BNB Chain carried out its 37th quarterly Auto-Burn on 19 October 2026, removing 1,646,196.44 BNB from circulation, Blockonomi reported. The foundation valued the destroyed tokens at roughly $1.197 billion at the time of the burn.

The BNB Foundation announced the completion of the event and published the transaction details, with the figures recorded at 10:05 AM UTC. The tokens were sent to the blackhole address ending in dEaD, where they can no longer be spent. This quarter’s burn took place directly on BNB Smart Chain, a shift that followed the BNB Chain Fusion, and future burns are set to follow the same route.

Key facts

  • Burned amount: 1,646,196.44 BNB, valued at about $1.197 billion.
  • Post-burn supply: 131,512,085 BNB, according to Blockonomi’s report.
  • Burn destination: the blackhole address 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD.
  • Burn date and time: 19 October 2026, with figures logged at 10:05 AM UTC.
  • Auto-Burn inputs: the price of BNB and the number of blocks BSC produces each quarter.

How the burn compares with earlier quarters

U.today reported that the 37th burn was close in size to recent quarters, and slightly larger. The 36th burn removed 1,615,827 BNB and the 35th removed 1,569,307 BNB, according to U.today. It also cited 1,371,803 BNB for the 34th burn and 1,441,281 BNB for the 33rd.

Earlier burns were considerably bigger. U.today reported that the 14th burn destroyed 3,619,888 BNB and the 11th destroyed 3,373,988 BNB. The first burn removed 986,000 BNB. Burn amounts have moved a long way over the years, while the quarterly schedule has not changed.

The two figures for remaining supply

The two reports differ on the remaining supply after the burn. Blockonomi put it at 131,512,085 BNB, while U.today reported 131,512,500 BNB. Both outlets state that the Auto-Burn is designed to reduce total supply toward 100 million BNB over time. U.today framed the plan as continuing until half of the original supply is gone.

Blockonomi noted that the Lorentz and Maxwell upgrades changed the context for the formula. Because BSC now produces blocks more frequently than when the formula was first defined, the parameters were adjusted to keep the original approach consistent. The mechanism is auditable and runs separately from the Binance centralized exchange, and the foundation links a real-time page tracking how much remains to be burned.

A second, real-time mechanism operates alongside it. Under BEP-95, a share of the gas fees in each BSC block is burned, with validator governance setting the ratio. That links some ongoing burning directly to network activity.

Why it matters

BNB is the native coin of the BNB Chain ecosystem, used for transaction fees on BNB Smart Chain, the opBNB layer-2 networks and BNB Greenfield, and it also serves as a governance token for on-chain votes. A quarterly burn reduces the supply in circulation, so each remaining token represents a larger share of the whole, which is why holders track the number each quarter. U.today noted that while a smaller supply can support the price if demand holds or grows, a burn does not guarantee a price increase, and the market can move for many other reasons. Whether these are forward-looking price predictions or not, this is not financial advice and the crypto market is volatile and uncertain.

What to watch

The next Auto-Burn is scheduled for the following quarter, and the published figure will show whether the recent upward trend in burn size continues. The BNB Foundation’s real-time page tracking the amount left to burn will update in the meantime.
