Ripple has partnered with Privy, the wallet infrastructure company owned by Stripe, to bring embedded XRP Ledger wallets to developers, according to Zycrypto. The integration, announced on Tuesday, lets developers create and manage wallets, sign transactions and support XRP, Ripple’s dollar-pegged RLUSD stablecoin and other assets issued on the network without building wallet technology from scratch.

Privy co-founder and CEO Henri Stern, who heads crypto and stablecoins at Stripe, said stablecoins are changing how money moves and that XRPL has been building for payments from the start. Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, said Privy brings proven wallet infrastructure that makes it easier for fintechs and developers to bring XRPL into real products, from payments and stablecoin experiences to emerging forms of agentic commerce.

Key facts

  • Stripe bought Privy last year; the company still operates separately and the announcement was made on Tuesday.
  • Privy’s documentation says a new XRP Ledger account must first receive the network’s minimum reserve, currently 1 XRP, even if the customer only wants to send dollar-pegged stablecoins.
  • RippleX engineering chief J. Ayo Akinyele said on X that the network processed more than 13 million agent payments through the x402 protocol, roughly 25% of ledger activity.
  • The XRPL AI Hub, run by payment infrastructure developer t54, showed more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants as of Wednesday, though total value moved was about 6,991 XRP and 12,752 RLUSD.
  • According to Privy, the XRP Ledger has accumulated more than 8 million funded accounts and processed over $1 trillion in value during its 14-year history.

Agent payments on the XRP Ledger

Coincentral reported that AI agents can use the Privy wallets to pay for online services through the x402 standard, a protocol for buying access to data and other services. In one described flow, an agent requests paid data, receives a payment request, authorizes payment and receives the data once payment is verified, without a person opening a checkout page each time.

The two outlets’ figures for network activity differ slightly. Coincentral put the XRPL AI Hub count at more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants, while RippleX’s Akinyele cited more than 13 million x402 agent payments, roughly a quarter of ledger activity. Coincentral noted that the value moved was far smaller than the transaction count suggests, with many transfers involving very small amounts — consistent with software paying for single requests rather than making large transfers.

Ripple’s developer tooling has been building toward this. The company introduced an AI Starter Kit in June that lets agents create wallets, check balances and pay for services using XRP or RLUSD. In September, Ripple expanded the kit to support a standard built by Stripe and the payments blockchain Tempo.

What Privy adds and what is still to come

Users can export their private keys or recovery phrases to move wallets to other compatible services, Privy said, preserving ownership and portability. Privy also said it plans to add policy controls and gas sponsorship over time, which would let developers set rules for automated transactions and cover network fees for users.

Why it matters

The integration lowers the technical barrier for fintechs and payment providers that want to offer XRP- and RLUSD-based transfers without asking customers to manage their own private keys. It also widens the runway for agentic commerce, where software holds and spends funds on a company’s behalf. Easier access to XRPL wallets does not automatically translate into buying pressure for XRP, however: applications may rely on RLUSD or other ledger-issued assets, so the effect on demand depends on whether the integration produces sustained XRP-denominated payments and new funded wallets. Relative to Ripple’s earlier tools, which focused on agent-created wallets and balance checks, the Privy deal targets the wallet infrastructure layer that payment companies need to ship production products.

News.bitcoin reported that CoinDesk asked the XRP Ledger Foundation about apps using the integration and for data on how much network activity comes from AI agents. That attribution is specific to News.bitcoin’s report and was not included in the other two accounts.

What to watch

The next concrete signals are whether Privy ships the promised transaction policy controls and gas sponsorship, and whether the XRPL AI Hub’s transaction count is matched by growth in XRP and RLUSD value moved rather than only by low-value requests. Any response from the XRP Ledger Foundation to questions about AI-agent activity would also clarify how much of the network’s usage the new wallets actually represent.

XRP remains a volatile asset, and the partnership is best read as a potential long-term adoption catalyst rather than an immediate price trigger. Nothing here is financial advice.
