Porsche Ends Web3 Project as 911 NFT Trading Falls to $2,900

Porsche has shut down its Web3 project and the associated PIONΞERS CIRCLE community effective October 1, 2026, ending a blockchain effort that began at Art Basel Miami in December 2022, Blockonomi reported. The automaker announced the closure through its official X account, saying the initiative had grown into more than a technology experiment and thanking contributors for their creative input.

Holders of the PORSCHΞ 911 non-fungible tokens keep them. The digital collectibles remain on the blockchain and can still be traded on secondary marketplaces, but the official support structure around them is being retired. OpenSea statistics show monthly trading activity has fallen to roughly $2,900, against an all-time cumulative peak of about $20 million.

Key facts

  • The Web3 project and PIONΞERS CIRCLE community ended effective October 1, 2026, with the Discord server moving to read-only archive mode and the @eth_porsche account ceasing updates.
  • Porsche capped the collection at 2,363 tokens after halting the mint early, down from an initial plan of 7,500 units priced at 0.911 ETH each.
  • Cumulative OpenSea trading volume reached approximately $20 million at its peak, contracted to roughly $38,000 over the previous 12 months, and recorded about $2,900 in the most recent 30-day period.
  • Porsche offered no detailed explanation for the timing of the closure, and no token burns, redemption programs or migration pathways were mentioned.
  • Cryptobriefing reported that the mint stopped after roughly 24 hours, with only about 1,800 to 1,900 NFTs created at that point.

From Art Basel launch to a capped supply

Minting opened in January 2023, a month after Porsche introduced the concept at Art Basel Miami. Buyers picked from three aesthetic directions — Performance, Heritage and Lifestyle — that decided how their digital 911 renderings looked. The original target was 7,500 tokens at 0.911 ETH each, but collectors objected to the pricing and questioned the practical benefits of ownership.

Porsche stopped the mint early at approximately 2,363 tokens, about 18% of the intended volume, and said it preferred building a tighter, more active community. Market prices for the collection had already slipped below the mint price in those opening weeks. Cryptobriefing put the number minted before the halt at about 1,800 to 1,900, while Blockonomi reported approximately 2,363 tokens created by the time Porsche intervened — both outlets agree the final cap was 2,363.

Porsche then shifted focus to the Pioneers Circle, running digital channels and physical gatherings tied to its car lineup and racing programs. Selected participants served as ambassadors and gave feedback directly to company representatives, with Discord as the primary venue. That server will now preserve historical discussions in archive mode.

Why it matters

The closure affects a relatively small group of token holders, but it illustrates how quickly corporate NFT experiments can lose momentum. The gap between 7,500 planned tokens and 2,363 minted shows demand cooled once buyers found the value proposition unclear. With no new development or utility planned, the tokens lose the forward-looking story that often supports prices for brand-backed collections, and their value now depends on secondary-market demand alone.

The timing arrived amid mixed signals in the wider NFT market. Blockonomi noted weekly sales of $55.51 million for the seven days ending September 26, up from $37.54 million the previous week, with Ethereum contributing $30.33 million and CryptoPunks leading individual projects at $8.24 million. Bitcoin-based NFT activity fell sharply in that interval. The 911 collection launched during an earlier wave of corporate NFT enthusiasm, and Porsche joins the list of consumer brands that have since stepped back.

What to watch

Porsche did not disclose what, if anything, comes next for the tokens or whether any redemption or migration option will be offered, so the archived Discord and existing on-chain holdings are all that remain of the venture. Traders will be watching whether secondary-market prices for the 2,363 tokens hold without an active community or social channel.
